On 31st January 2023, on the 350th Birth Anniversary of St. Louis Marie de Montfort, the first Montfortian school in Sri Lanka was inaugurated by Rev. Bro. John Kallaraickal, The Superior General of the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel. Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin Bernard Gnanapragasam the Bishop of Jaffna Diocese was the guest of honour who blessed the school. Bro. Irudhaym, the provincial Superior of the Province of Trichy was present for the event along with the other Provincials of the Indian Provinces. Government officials from the district of Jaffna, good many Religious and Priests were present for the event. The Inaugural Program was organized under the guidance of Bro. Mariapragasam, The principal of the School.
The Foundation stone for the school was laid in 2019 and the construction works were started. The school started functioning from 2022 onwards, and as of now, the school has 150 students. 3 Brothers from India, 5 Sisters from St. Joseph’s of Cluny congregation and 5 teachers are working in the school. The school is the first of its kind in the Jaffna diocese.
